Back home
I spent a week in Monterrey, the hot, huge city where some of my rocking friends live. The type of friends that you played with mud as a kid. The great type. You don't see them often. Sometimes you loose touch. But when you see them again, it's all fun.
We traveled back to Morelia in the night, made an effort to sleep as much as possible. The funny thing was the man sitting on the next row of seats, he snored in such unique way.
And then the sun rose right over the lake, it couldn't have been a better place ;)
Please pretend I have a BUNCH of pictures. I forgot the camera -shame on me. And the cameras they had went through tough times, like drowning or plain ol rebellion to work.
Try picturing:
A shot taken of my happy mother with Josiah and Linda.
Dear Steph cooking dinner.
Danny sleeping, what he loves doing. Hah!
Nathy, Steph and I smashing ourselves in a big hug.
The stairs of their house, very narrow, they just ask me for a picture. A clumsy person is apt to hurt their self with the rough walls on both sides. Ok, me in the stairs, since I'm the one who thinks they're so special.
A group shot, all sitting an waiting for our movie to start. Steph looking very pretty, Danny with a cool face, still thinking about the girl that just passed, Nathy being cute, me being me and Nick tall and with a smile (he better smile).
Danny playing the base.
Steph and I in the park, sitting in the shade, with a bag of gross chips which we finished anyway.
Steph caught thinking about someone...
A very strange picture of Nick and I dancing in the street.
Auntie Ruth, mom and Linda at a restaurant, quick shot before I had to run with the others.
A picture of the sky, sun rays dancing now -instead of shooting down at us -with the great mountains in view.
...A week passed by too fast.

If my eyes could
I've repeated this quite some times, in different conversations. But I'll say it again.
I just wish my eyes could take pictures. So that what my eyes get to see, is captured to show others, and to remind myself.
It's not that I have such an amazing life, with loads of different far-out experiences. But to have all those flashbacks handy would be a proof that the world -though a horrid mess- still has beauty and people who know how to live, love and give.
We can fail to realize all the things that make life truly beautiful. These things cannot be captured in pictures really, but people must see to believe. They'd be memories of things felt, things lived, the honey that comes from the crushing, the rainbow that comes from the rain, the smile that lights the day.
Our eyes cannot take pictures in the way I'm referring to (big grin -you already knew that), but if we'd just stop and look closely we could see that the things that really matter are simple, the things to make us happy are there and that the beauty of life lies within. Once you find it, you'll see it all around.
....In the "if " scenario, there would also be lots of pictures to laugh over -laugh our heads off!

Love's thrills
Life is risky business. In fact, you can't get out of it alive. But you can't sit around with your hands folded in your lap trying to avoid the consequences of taking a risk either. It's like the trapeze artists in the circus. They swing back and forth hanging on to the trapeze bar. But if that's all they do, there's no thrill for the audience. It's that split second when the artist lets go of the bar and is "flying through the air with the greatest of ease" that makes the audience stand up and cheer. It's the letting go, taking the risk that the other trapeze will arrive at just the right moment, that gives life excitement.
Sure, the danger of falling is always there. But the guy who clings to the trapeze bar and never lets go cannot know the exhilaration of the guy who releases himself to take the risk. He may live longer, but he won't live better.

I live on hugs
"Benny! Could you give me a hug?"
While he thought about it, I very soberly explained that in the same way he must breath to live, I need hugs.
"You can't breath?" I shook my head.
"Let me see" and he put his hand to my nose. "Oh".
He hurried up and hugged me and then Janine did so too.

Unmeasured love

For true love is inexhaustible; the more you give, the more you have.
And if you go to draw at the true fountainhead, the more water you draw, the more abundant is its flow.
-Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Cute ones, for Mari and Ali
My way of entertaining myself, and the kids with me: using them as models!
Even Benji, who usually won't let me take pictures of him said: "Will you take a picture of me with the doggy?"
These kids always come up in my blog, I must love them. One thing is for sure, I can't forget such cute little people, so they'll be in my prayers throughout life.

You
By Edgar Guest
You are the fellow that has to decide
Whether you'll do it or toss it aside.
You are the fellow who makes up your mind
Whether you'll lead or will linger behind
Whether you'll try for the goal that's afar
Or just be contented to stay where you are.
Take it or leave it. Here's something to do!
Just think it over --- It's all up to you!
What do you wish? To be known as a shirk,
Known as a good man who's willing to work,
Scorned for a loafer or praised by your chief,
Rich man or poor man or beggar or thief?
Eager or earnest or dull through the day,
Honest or crooked? It's you who must say!
You must decide in the face of the test
Whether you'll shirk it or give it your best.
Nobody here will compel you to rise;
No one will force you to open your eyes;
No one will answer for you yes or no,
Whether to stay there or whether to go.
Life is a game, but it's you who must say,
Whether as cheat or as sportsman you'll play.
Fate may betray you, but you settle first
Whether to live to your best or your worst.
So, whatever it is you are wanting to be,
Remember, to fashion the choice you are free.
Kindly or selfish, or gentle or strong,
Keeping the right way or taking the wrong,
Careless of honor or guarding your pride,
All these are questions which you must decide.
Yours the selection, whichever you do;
The thing men call character's all up to you!
